In einem Ausstellungskatalog schrieb sie selbst: „Boldly turning her back on everything, as the current turn of phrase has it, Vera Tröster picks up her brushes, her spatula and oils to present her own expressive, discontented, even nervously vexed world, or rather her visions of the world. It is in a orgy of colour, in contrasts of vibrating reds, burning, sharp oranges and heavy, blunt blues, that she reveals her struggles, her descent into hell. In between the colours, the beauty of differentiated emotions flashes, but the presence of the unforgivable tragedy: fear, the tragedy of death, surfaces from thedepths, especially when a human face or two, a pair of eyes, a movement of a hand recognizably stand out from amid the mass of organic forms […]“
