Beschreibung
An seinen Freund Ed (vermutlich Edward L. Homze; 1930-2009) mit Dank für dessen Briefe, in englischer Sprache: „[…] Dont’t be too upset […] When I am (by publishing a new book), going again in publicity, I expect worse reviews […] The second thing with John Toland is bothering […] me seriously. Until now in public opinion I was an exception. This Toland gives some bad lights on me. And he is more a Journalist. Because he knows me, had a long talk with me once. So, if he really would be an Historian, he would ask my opinion on the facts, as I see them. But I don’t want to approach him. Now it is too late for that. But possibly you can convince him? I have the vague idea, to bring the whole case […] as a kind of arbiter to some institute, which is occupied in the field of contemporary history […]“ Weiter über Interviews englischsprachiger Medien: „I am […] tired of always the same questions […]“ – John Toland (1912-2004) veröffentlichte 1976 seine maßgebliche englische Hitler-Biographie und hatte Speers Autobiographie 1970 in der „New York Times“ empfohlen. Edward L. Homze veröffentlichte 1976 seine Studie „Arming the Luftwaffe“. – Die Selbstdarstellungen Speers wurden inzwischen korrigiert (vgl. etwa Magnus Brechtken, Albert Speer, 2017). – Selten.
